Exciting News: The ADE Extends Grade 2 Universal Testing CogAT Contract for 2025–2026!

The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has officially extended its Grade 2 Universal Testing Contract for the 2025–2026 school year, continuing its commitment to fair and accurate gifted identification. All Arizona public schools are invited to participate in this state-supported opportunity. 

Following a competitive procurement process in February 2022, the ADE selected the Cognitive Abilities Test™ (CogAT®) from Riverside Insights as the 2^nd grade assessment tool for universal testing. CogAT measures reasoning abilities across Verbal, Quantitative, and Nonverbal domains—offering a well-rounded view of student potential. Aligned with research and best practices, CogAT supports the identification of diverse learners and provides valuable insights into abilities most linked to academic success.
