Our Affiliate networks say it best:

The Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) is home to a vibrant and diverse student body, including a significant population of gifted and talented learners who possess unique intellectual and academic needs. To truly foster their potential and ensure they receive an education that is both challenging and enriching, the active involvement and collaboration of parents are absolutely crucial. Therefore, I wholeheartedly express my strong support for the parent group affiliated with the gifted and talented community within the Deer Valley Unified School District. This dedicated group serves as an invaluable asset, providing a multitude of benefits to students, families, and the district as a whole . . . By supporting and encouraging this parent group, DVUSD demonstrates its commitment to a holistic approach to gifted education – one that recognizes the essential role of families in . . . fostering open communication, collaboration, and partnership . . . recognizing that [the parents’] efforts directly contribute to the academic excellence and well-being of our gifted and talented students in Deer Valley.

The Tempe Elementary School District Gifted Department collaborates closely with its dedicated parent group, Tempe Parents for the Gifted (TPG). This partnership enhances the academic opportunities for Tempe gifted students while simultaneously creating pathways for authentic partnerships with families across all layers of gifted services, including the new ASPIRE at Arredondo self-contained gifted program. While so many districts are making cuts to gifted education, Tempe’s strong community is thinking innovatively, working to expand the gifted programming options.

TPG actively supports the gifted community in many ways, including providing classroom mini-grants, sponsoring parent discussion groups, hosting social events and by coordinating with experts in the field to share valuable parenting insights. Partnerships with parent groups help to foster a strong sense of community for gifted students and their families.

DVUSD Gifted Services is proud to partner with Deer Valley Gifted Community.  Collaborating with a gifted parent affiliate such as Deer Valley Gifted Community allows district leaders to gain valuable perspectives regarding student, family, and community needs.  Recognizing that child development occurs across multiple landscapes, it is important that school districts are communicative and collaborative with parents.  Partnering with Deer Valley Gifted Community provides numerous benefits, including increased communication, resources, and support for gifted programming.  In turn, our DVUSD parents gain valuable insights into their gifted child’s learning and development.  DVUSD families also form meaningful connections with other parents of gifted learners, building a web of support.  When gifted educators and parents work together, students WIN.

“The goal of the Deer Valley Gifted Community (DVGC) is to create a space online that would be both safe and encouraging for our members to share their resources, be informed, and find support and network, so we can encourage each other, as well as advocate for our students as we support the gifted services in our district. We want to help both the parents and the district, so we would have a good working relationship with them. This allows us to bring our voice to the table when decisions are being made, and offer an exchange of tangible support  as we work together to build up gifted services in the District. Another benefit to parents is the encouragement we are able to share together during this season of life.”
