Happy #NationalDictionaryDay2021!

October 16th is National Dictionary Day – we’re excited to look at the definition of ‘giftedness‘ and other words that are important to the students, parents, educators, and administrators that are involved in gifted and talented education.

Merriam-Webster.com defines gifted as

‘having great natural ability : TALENTED’

which only scratches the surface of how to define the gifted experience.

AAGT’s partner NAGC answers the question What is Giftedness? in much more detail in their 2019 publication ‘A Definition of Giftedness that Guides Best Practice‘. We love this extended definition of giftedness and are proud to share it with the world this #NationalDictionaryDay!

There are a lot of words that might be new to parents and students as they start their gifted education journey. Be sure to check out the Glossary in our Resources to help make sense of some common terms associated with Giftedness. It is not a complete glossary of terms, so if you have any questions or comments please feel free to email us at officemanager@azgifted.com!
