Free One-Day Workshop for Teachers: Identifying Math Potential in Diverse Learners

The Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented is excited to share a professional development opportunity from the National Center for Research on Gifted Education at the University of Connecticut (UConn).

Project EAGLE (Eliciting Advanced Gifted Learning Evidence) is offering complimentary, one-day workshops during the 2025–26 school year for educators in Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. These interactive sessions focus on helping teachers identify mathematical potential in students—especially those from underrepresented populations—using evidence-based practices developed through a federal research grant.

Why Attend?

These workshops are designed to:

  • Increase equity in gifted identification

  • Equip teachers with practical, research-backed tools

  • Improve student engagement and long-term academic success

  • Support a more inclusive approach to recognizing talent in the classroom

Who Should Attend?

  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teachers

  • Gifted specialists

  • School and district leaders interested in expanding access to gifted services

Workshop Details:

  • One full day of professional learning (6 hours)

  • Includes all training materials and follow-up resources

  • Led by certified Project EAGLE trainers

  • Absolutely free to schools and districts

📅 Workshops begin Fall 2025 and are scheduled on a rolling basis.
