Calling Young Scholars: A Publishing Opportunity for Gifted and Black Students
The Journal of Advanced Academics is inviting submissions for a special issue focused on youth voice, creativity, and inquiry, and this is an exciting opportunity for gifted and Black students to share their work on a national platform.
This call for submissions centers student perspectives and encourages youth-led research, creative expression, and academic exploration across a wide range of disciplines. Whether a student is passionate about STEM, the humanities, social sciences, or community-based research, this opportunity provides a meaningful pathway into academic publishing.
An Opportunity Designed for Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Students
This special issue is especially well aligned with the work happening in gifted education, including:
- Independent study projects
- Enrichment clusters
- AP or IB research
- Science fair or inquiry-based learning
- Community-based research and advocacy projects
The review process is intentionally supportive and developmental, making it an excellent entry point for students who are new to academic writing or research publication. Students do not need prior publishing experience to participate.
Centering Student Voice and Creativity
The Journal of Advanced Academics is seeking submissions that elevate youth voice, encourage original thinking, and reflect the lived experiences of gifted learners. Submissions may include:
- Creative writing or reflective pieces
- STEM research or investigations
- Humanities-based analysis
- Community-centered inquiry
- Interdisciplinary or passion-driven projects
This opportunity is especially meaningful for Black students, whose voices and perspectives are often underrepresented in academic publishing. The goal of this special issue is to amplify those voices while honoring creativity, curiosity, and intellectual risk-taking.
A Meaningful Opportunity for Families and Educators
For parents, educators, and gifted coordinators, this call for submissions offers a powerful way to support students beyond the classroom. It aligns naturally with gifted programming goals and provides a real-world application for research, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Educators may consider incorporating this opportunity into:
- Gifted cluster work
- Independent learning plans
- Capstone or research projects
- After-school or enrichment programs
Families can support students by encouraging exploration, helping them reflect on their interests, and guiding them through the submission process.
