Gifted Education Week 2026: A Week of Recognition, A Year of Purpose
As Gifted Education Week 2026 (February 8–14) comes to a close, it feels like the right moment to pause and reflect — not just on the proclamation itself, but on what this week represents for gifted learners across Arizona.
We want to begin with sincere appreciation to Governor Katie Hobbs for officially recognizing Gifted Education Week through this year’s statewide proclamation. That recognition helps elevate awareness of gifted learners, the educators who serve them, and the families and communities advocating for appropriate opportunities. Visibility matters, and this acknowledgement helps move important conversations forward.
Throughout the week, we saw that recognition come to life. Educators shared strategies and successes. Families connected with resources and each other. Students found community. Our annual conference brought hundreds together around the shared goal of ensuring gifted learners are truly seen, heard, and served. These moments remind us that this work is collaborative, ongoing, and deeply meaningful.
At the same time, gifted education has never been confined to one week. The real work continues year-round:
Educators designing meaningful challenge in classrooms
Families advocating thoughtfully for their children
Schools strengthening programming
Community partners expanding enrichment opportunities
Students learning to understand their own strengths, needs, and potential
Gifted Education Week provides a spotlight. What happens after the spotlight is where lasting progress occurs.
Membership Matters
This feels like a natural moment to talk about membership, because this organization exists because of its members.
Membership is not about discounts or perks. It’s about belonging to a community actively shaping gifted education in Arizona.
Our members include educators innovating in classrooms, parents advocating for their children, counselors supporting social and emotional development, administrators, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders. Membership connects you with people who understand this work. It creates space for year-round collaboration, professional learning, shared resources, and ongoing conversations — including through our new CommUnity platform.
Most importantly, membership reflects commitment. It signals belief in appropriate challenge for gifted learners, equitable access to services, and a community that truly sees them.
To our current members: thank you. Your support sustains this organization and strengthens gifted education statewide.
If you’re not yet a member, we invite you to consider joining. For a mission. For a community. For the future of gifted education in Arizona.
Gifted Education Week may officially wrap up today. The work, the advocacy, and the community continue and we’re grateful to do it together.
