AAGT Scholarships and Grants
We love to give back!
AAGT offers many opportunities to give back to our gifted community in the way of scholarships and grants.
The Integrity of the Scholarship Application Process
- All scholarship and grant applicants are required to be, or to be sponsored by, an AAGT member.
- Exception: Applications for need-based scholarships do not require an AAGT member to sponsor the applicant.
- Applicants for need-based scholarships will work directly with the Executive Director in order to preserve the dignity of the applicant.
- Applicants may apply for more than one scholarship per school year, but may only be awarded one AAGT scholarship per school year, with the following exception:
- Teacher tuition scholarship recipients receive one-lifetime amount.
Scholarship Determination
- The criteria for choosing the scholarship recipients will be based upon the quality of the content of the application. Please be as detailed as possible when describing your project or the enrichment activity as well as the expected benefits for your student(s)/child(ren).
- Once scholarship recipients are determined, the Executive Director will contact the scholarship applicants, notify them of their scholarship status, and disburse the funds appropriately.
- Scholarship applicants will receive a response to their application within two-three weeks from the application deadline or the date their application was received.
Scholarship Limitations
- AAGT does not provide scholarships for SENG Facilitator Training, but will provide scholarships for attending conferences that support increasing the understanding of the needs of the gifted (ie.: AAGT, SENG, NAGC, WCGTC, etc.)
- Board members do not receive scholarships.
- Children of board members are not eligible for AAGT scholarships due to Conflict of Interest.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Purpose: To provide tuition for students in kindergarten through grade 12 to attend enrichment activities (after school classes, camps, etc)
An enrichment activity is an experience where kids can extend their learning to improve or enhance skills, knowledge, and well-being. Please note that Summer school classes taken for credit that a student would need in general do not qualify as enrichment activities.
A current AAGT member must sponsor the student if applying for a reimbursement scholarship. The scholarship funds tuition up to $200 for up to 40 students per year.
There is no deadline to apply, however, AAGT will award up to 10 scholarships per quarter, with up to 5 designated to needs-based students.
Requirements for Scholarship Application
- Teacher or Parent/Family Member must be a member of AAGT to qualify
- Letter of Recommendation from AAGT Sponsoring Member
- Program Description and/or registration form with student information.
- Receipt showing enrichment activity has been paid in full.
Needs Based Student Enrichment Scholarship Application
Purpose: To provide tuition for students in kindergarten through grade 12 to attend enrichment activities (after school classes, camps, etc)
An enrichment activity is an experience where kids can extend their learning to improve or enhance skills, knowledge, and well-being. Please note that Summer school classes taken for credit that a student would need in general do not qualify as enrichment activities.
A teacher or administrator may recommend a student for a scholarship to be paid directly to the enrichment program by AAGT. Students enrolled at Title 1 schools will be given priority.
The scholarship funds tuition up to $200 for up to 20 students per year. Payments will be made directly to the program provider.
There is no deadline to apply, however, AAGT will award up to 5 scholarships per quarter.
Requirements for Scholarship Application
- A Teacher, Administrator or Gifted Coordinator must submit application on behalf of student/family
- Letter of recommendation for student participation from teacher/administrator/gifted coordinator
- Program description, flyer/brochure or link to program website
- Any registration materials that need to be submitted with payment
Student Academic Competition Scholarship
Purpose: To provide funds for student teams to travel to academic competitions (scholarships are not available for registration fees).
Teams may apply by submitting a paragraph, up to 250 words explaining why they participate and what they hope to gain. The team must have a member from AAGT member (teacher, parent, friend, etc) sponsor their application.
Teams of 2-5 members can receive up to $250.00. Teams of 5-10 can receive up to $500. Larger teams will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Four student teams will be sponsored per school year. Preference will be given to teams from Title 1 schools. Responses will be received approximately 3 weeks following submission of an application.
Teacher Gifted Endorsement Tuition Scholarship
Purpose: To reimburse teachers for tuition toward gifted endorsement courses up to $500 for a lifetime amount.
Up to four scholarships will be granted each calendar year. The applicant must be a current member of AAGT. The applications are accepted any time of year. Responses will be received approximately 3 weeks following submission of an application. This includes consideration for full or partial registration fees for conferences that support increasing the understanding of the needs of the gifted (ie.: SENG, NAGC, WCGTC, etc.)
Teacher Classroom Mini-Grant
Purpose: To fund classroom projects and/or activities that align with the vision of the Arizona Association Gifted and Talented.
The grant amount is funded up to $500 to current AAGT members who are teaching in K-12 public, private, or charter schools. Two grants per year will be funded. Scholarship recipients are invited to submit a photo of themselves and a brief paragraph of their class project/activity at the conclusion of their experience to be posted on AAGT’s website and social media.
Fall Grant: Submit application by October 1; receive a response by November 1.
Spring Grant: Submit application by March 1; receive a response by April 1.
Requirements for Scholarship Application

- Project or Program Description
- Receipt or quote showing the current cost and description of what your request will cover.
Annual Conference Scholarship Application
Purpose: To fund first time attendees to the AAGT Annual Conference. Up to 10 scholarships will be issued for attendance at the annual conference, with half issued to educators who work at Title I schools. Recipients must be a current member of AAGT.
