Classroom Grants for Arizona Teachers to Explore and Expand

Great teaching often starts with a big idea: a hands-on project, a deeper research opportunity, a new set of materials, a creative classroom challenge, or an experience that helps students connect learning to the world around them.

But too often, teachers are left trying to make those ideas happen with limited resources, personal funds, or supplies that stretch only so far.

Classroom grants can help change that. For gifted, creative, twice-exceptional, and highly curious learners, access to meaningful materials and experiences can make a real difference. A grant may help a teacher build a more challenging project, bring in specialized materials, support inquiry-based learning, or create opportunities students might not otherwise have.

Below are several classroom grant opportunities currently available to Arizona educators. Please review each organization’s website directly for the most current eligibility requirements, deadlines, award details, and application instructions.

Quick Deadlines to Know

• Desert Financial Adopt-A-Teacher: Applications are open July 7–24, 2026, with recipients announced August 20.
• APS Supply My Class: Entries are accepted through noon on August 10, 2026.
• Arizona Game and Fish Department AZ Heritage K-12 Small Grant: The first round of applications is due September 1, with another scoring round after January 1 if funds remain.
• AAGT Teacher Classroom Mini-Grant: Fall applications are due October 1, and spring applications are due March 1.
• SRP Classroom Grants: STEM and History/Social Science classroom grants are accepted November through mid-February.

SRP Education Grants for Teachers

SRP offers several education grant opportunities for Arizona teachers, including classroom grants in STEM and History and Social Science. SRP provides more than $200,000 in direct classroom funding each year through its classroom grants program.

The STEM Classroom Grant supports projects and programs connected to state-mandated competencies, with up to $5,000 awarded per school. Funds may be used for innovative teaching strategies that improve student performance in math and science. Eligible applicants include certified K-12 teachers from traditional public and charter schools in Apache, Gila, Maricopa, Navajo, Pinal, and Yavapai counties.

The History and Social Science Classroom Grant supports teaching in history, geography, civics, government, and economics. This grant awards up to $2,500 per school and follows similar eligibility requirements for certified K-12 teachers in traditional public and charter schools in the listed Arizona counties.

SRP also offers Powering Our Future Grants for K-12 classroom teachers who have attended an SRP Powering Our Future professional development workshop. Beginning in fall 2026, those grants will increase to $400, and teachers may apply once per school year after attending a workshop.

These grants may be a strong fit for teachers designing enrichment projects, hands-on STEM investigations, interdisciplinary learning experiences, or social studies units that ask students to think critically and creatively.

APS Supply My Class

The APS Supply My Class program gives qualifying K-12 teachers a chance to receive a $500 prepaid card that can be used toward classroom supplies. In 2026, APS will award 500 randomly selected K-12 teachers within its service territory.

Teachers must be employed at a K-12 public or public charter school within the APS service territory and complete the online application form. The 2026 sweepstakes opened July 8 and closes at noon on August 10, 2026.

This opportunity may be especially helpful for teachers who need flexible funding for classroom materials, student supplies, project resources, or everyday items that help students participate fully in learning.

Desert Financial Adopt-A-Teacher

Desert Financial’s Adopt-A-Teacher program will select 100 Arizona teachers to receive $1,000 each for classroom supplies. Applications for the 2026 program are open July 7–24, and recipients will be announced August 20.

According to Desert Financial, any teacher in Arizona can apply, and priority selection will go to Title I schools. The application asks teachers to describe the projects or programs they hope to support, the supplies they need, and how many students would be impacted.

This grant may be a good fit for teachers with a clear classroom need, a project idea already in mind, or a set of materials that would help students engage more deeply in learning.

Arizona Game and Fish Department AZ Heritage K-12 Small Grant Program

The AZ Heritage K-12 Small Grant Program from the Arizona Game and Fish Department provides up to $3,000 for individual projects focused on wildlife education in Arizona.

The program is designed to help educators bring wildlife education into classrooms through field experiences, professional development, supplies, tactile resources, and standards-based lessons. Educators who work for a government agency, including a public school, or a nonprofit organization are eligible to apply.

The first round of applications is due September 1. If funds remain, another round of applications may be scored after January 1. Applications usually open in mid-July, and the department also offers webinars and virtual office hours before scoring deadlines to help educators prepare stronger applications.

This grant may be a strong fit for teachers planning outdoor learning, environmental science projects, wildlife studies, interdisciplinary research, field experiences, or hands-on lessons that connect students with Arizona’s natural world.

AAGT Teacher Classroom Mini-Grant

The AAGT Teacher Classroom Mini-Grant helps fund classroom projects and activities that align with the vision of the Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented. Grants are funded up to $500 for current AAGT members teaching in K-12 public, private, or charter schools. Two grants are funded each year.

Fall grant applications are due October 1, with responses by November 1. Spring grant applications are due March 1, with responses by April 1. Applicants must be AAGT members and submit a project or program description along with a receipt or quote showing the cost and description of what the request will cover.

The application asks teachers to connect their project to gifted learners specifically, including what student needs the project addresses, how it will challenge students beyond grade-level standards, and how the teacher will observe or measure success.

This grant is especially designed for educators who are thinking intentionally about the needs of gifted learners and want to create meaningful, challenging, and responsive classroom experiences.

A Few Tips Before You Apply

Before submitting a grant application, take time to connect your project idea to student need. A strong application often does more than list supplies. It explains what students will do, why the project matters, how the materials will support learning, and what outcomes the teacher hopes to see.

For gifted learners, this might include opportunities for deeper inquiry, creative production, advanced problem-solving, flexible pacing, interdisciplinary thinking, leadership, collaboration, or social-emotional support.

Teachers may also want to gather cost estimates, product links, photos, project timelines, and examples of how student learning will be documented. Even a simple plan can become stronger when it clearly shows how students will benefit.
