Celebrating a Milestone: Maryvale GTA Academy Welcomes Its First Gifted Freshman Cohort

The Arizona gifted community is filled with educators who are creating meaningful opportunities for students, and this month we are excited to celebrate an incredible milestone at Maryvale GTA Academy.

Located within Maryvale High School, Maryvale GTA Academy recently celebrated its very first incoming freshman gifted summer school cohort. During the program, students earned their first high school gifted credit, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey and officially becoming the Academy’s inaugural freshman class.

This summer experience was designed to do much more than introduce students to high school coursework. Scholars engaged in rigorous learning aligned with gifted education standards while also participating in social-emotional learning activities tailored to the unique needs of gifted learners. They experienced the culture and traditions of Maryvale High School, helping them build confidence, develop connections, and feel a true sense of belonging before the school year even begins.

The Academy’s vision is clear: from the moment students step onto campus, they are surrounded by a community committed to their success. Through consistent encouragement, meaningful relationships, and high expectations, staff members are creating an environment where gifted students know they are supported, challenged, and valued.
