Our Mission

The mission of the Arizona Association for Gifted and Talented (AAGT) is to advocate for the diverse population of gifted children in the state of Arizona. We strive to accomplish that mission by disseminating information, supporting local parent groups, and encouraging the growth of quality programs for gifted children. AAGT was formed in 1974 by a dedicated group of parents and teachers who saw the need for a unified voice to represent Arizona's gifted children. Our continuing challenge is to meet the needs of Arizona's gifted children with limited funds for their education and development. AAGT provides the only voice in Arizona dedicated to providing the information and guidance necessary for parents, teachers, administrators, counselors and legislators to develop and support gifted education in our state. Our advocacy takes many forms including an annual conference for parents and educators, scholarships for gifted students and teachers and providing resources for local support groups. These benefits, and more, are available to members of AAGT.
